We had an awesome time with our Life Group at the Murrill Ranch for Labor Day.  Lots of fish were caught, we swam till we looked like prunes and we continued to develop the great relationship that are forming in this group.  It was a great trip.  See Jacqueline’s blog for more pictures…

We are off to visit both of our families for the next two weeks.  This week we are in Athens, GA with Jacqueline’s family and then a Hughes family reunion in the mountains of North Carolina.  The trip from Texas was fairly good for a 15+ hour trip.  I brought a small library of books [...]

Confused?

13Jun08

In connection to my earlier post on worship being a bit confusing to the non-churched…I found this video a bit humorous…but not so much, in that it is probably a bit more the reality than I would hope.

Have you thought about the fact that many people in the world and even in our American culture have never been to church and would not know what to do if they went.   Will there be assigned seats?  Or, a pop-quiz on the sermon?  What do I wear?  Do I have to believe to [...]

I’ve been in Dallas yesterday and today for the Leadership Network Innovations Briefing.  I’ve had the great pleasure of hanging out with some incredibly gifted leaders.  I had dinner with Warren Bird and Greg Ligon who wrote the Multi-Site Church Revolution and have probably done more research in the area of Multi-Site Churches than anyone else.  They [...]

I’ve written before about the Jesus Prom at Southland Christian Church (my former church while in seminary).  It’s a party for special needs folks that they hold every year and people drive hundreds of miles to attend.  All the local news stations cover it and there are hundreds of volunteers that make it happen.  I [...]

Here’s a picture from the crew at Orange Conference. On the trip I learned more about the concept of Orange.  Orange revolves around the idea that the family and the church working together to minister to kids and students has an exponentially greater chance of succeeding in raising strong Christian leaders and building the Church.  Yellow represents the Church as the light of God in [...]

The eight of us that went to the Orange Conference had a great time together. Here’s a little recap from the main sessions: Session 01: Reggie Joiner – the world is in need of “loving father churches” and not “older brother churches” Loving Fathers… -are preoccupied with whoever is missing -operate from a context of [...]

But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for— God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people. (01peter005//04-05 — the Message)

Eight of us from Foundry are at the Orange Conference in Atlanta this week.  I’m excited to spend some time with our children’s and student ministry staff.  Orange is a conference to bring church leaders together to streamline the ministries for everyone from pre-school to college.  Our desire is to see our kids grow up [...]
